How to track ebook reading progress by percent
Short answer: ebook page numbers change with font size, so the progress percentage your reader app shows is the most reliable number to log. If your reading tracker lets you switch a book from pages to percent, your progress and finished books count without any page numbers.
Why ebooks break page-based tracking
Kindle and other reader apps reflow pages based on screen and font size, so the page you see rarely matches the print edition.
Some trackers don't count a finished book at all if it has no page count, so ebooks quietly disappear from your yearly totals.
Logging by percent
The method is the same whatever tool you use.
- Check the progress percentage at the bottom of your ebook app.
- Set that book's progress mode to percent in your tracker.
- Enter the current percent each time; the difference is what you read today.
- Mark it finished at 100%.
