Adhkar before sleep, with hadith sources

The adhkar most often recited before sleep are Ayat al-Kursi, the last two verses of Surah al-Baqarah, blowing into the palms after reciting al-Ikhlas, al-Falaq and an-Nas and wiping over the body, and SubhanAllah 33 times, Alhamdulillah 33 times and Allahu Akbar 34 times. The table lists a primary hadith source for each.

A simple order

  • Making wudu before going to bed is recommended (al-Bukhari 247).
  • Recite the adhkar above, counting the ones that have a number.
  • Lie on your right side and say the dua before sleeping last.
