How to convert hours worked into work days
Crews paid by the day (in Korea this unit is called gongsu) count one standard day as 1. The formula is simple: work days = hours actually worked ÷ hours in one standard day. On a crew where 8 hours is one day, 11 hours is 11 ÷ 8 = 1.375 days. Crews differ in how many hours make a day and whether overtime is rounded to half days, so check the rule first.
Find your crew's hours per day
Most sites treat 8 working hours (for example 7 am – 4 pm minus a one-hour lunch) as one day. Some use 9 or 10 hours, and some count a few hours of overtime as half a day. Use the same rule as your foreman so your log matches your pay.

Example: quitting time is 5 pm, but you worked till 8 pm
8 am to 5 pm with a one-hour lunch is 8 hours, or 1 day. Three more hours makes 11 hours: 1.375 days on an 8-hour basis. If your crew rounds overtime to half days, that becomes 1.5.

- Confirm how many hours make one day on your crew (usually 8).
- Write down the hours you actually worked, minus breaks.
- Divide hours worked by hours per day.
- Apply your crew's rounding rule if overtime counts in half days.
- Days × day rate = gross pay for that day.
