How often (and how long) should you do face yoga?
For most people, a short face yoga session of about 5 minutes a day, most days of the week, is a practical target. Consistency matters more than length: a few minutes daily is easier to keep than a long session once a week. Studies are small, so expect gentle, gradual changes at best — and results vary.
Daily and short beats long and rare
Face muscles are small; you don't need a long workout. The small studies on face yoga used routines of around 30 minutes, which few people keep up. A 3–5 minute routine you actually do every day is more realistic, and you can add a second short session if you enjoy it.
How long per move?
Around 20–45 seconds per move, with slow, controlled movement, is enough to feel the muscles work without straining. If anything hurts or your jaw clicks, stop.
A simple 30-day schedule
Rest days are fine — the goal is a habit, not perfection.
| Days | Per session | Sessions per week | Focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1–7 | 6 moves × 20s (~2 min) | 5–7 | Learn the moves, keep it gentle |
| 8–14 | 6 moves × 30s (~3 min) | 5–7 | Build the daily habit |
| 15–21 | 6 moves × 30–45s (3–5 min) | 5–7 | Add areas you care about |
| 22–30 | 6 moves × 45s (~5 min) | 5–7 | Keep the streak, check in with yourself |
Realistic expectations
Face yoga is gentle exercise and relaxation. Some people notice they hold less tension in the jaw or forehead; visible changes, if any, are gradual and differ between people. Taking the same photo in the same light once a month is fairer than checking the mirror daily.

Important
This guide is general information, not medical advice. Research on face yoga is still limited, and results vary from person to person.
Keep every move gentle and pain-free. Stop right away if you feel jaw pain, clicking or popping in the jaw joint (TMJ), headaches or facial pain, and consult a doctor, dentist or other professional. If you have a TMJ disorder or recent facial procedures or surgery, check with a professional before starting.
