A 5-minute double chin & jawline routine you can do at your desk
A quick double chin and jawline routine is about six gentle moves for the chin, jaw and neck, held for 30–45 seconds each — roughly 5 minutes, no equipment needed. The evidence that facial exercise reduces a double chin is limited, so treat it as gentle exercise and posture relief, not a guaranteed fix.
Before you start
Sit tall with your shoulders relaxed and your screen at eye level — slouching toward a laptop pushes the head forward and makes the chin area look fuller in the first place. Move slowly and stay within a comfortable range.
The 5-minute routine
Do each move once, in order. Breathe normally throughout.
- Chin tuck (45s): glide your chin straight back, making a gentle 'double chin', hold 3 seconds, release. Repeat.
- Ceiling kiss (45s): tilt your head back slightly, look up and push your lips forward as if kissing the ceiling. Hold a few seconds, relax.
- Tongue press (45s): press the whole tongue against the roof of your mouth and feel the muscles under the chin engage. Hold, release.
- Jaw jut (45s): with your head slightly tilted up, push the lower jaw forward gently until you feel a stretch under the chin. Hold, return.
- Neck side stretch (45s): tilt one ear toward the shoulder, hold 15–20 seconds, switch sides.
- Vowel shapes (45s): exaggerate 'O' and 'E' slowly to work the mouth and cheeks, then finish with a few relaxed breaths.
Moves and timing at a glance
Six moves × about 45 seconds = roughly 4.5 minutes. Short on time? Use 30 seconds each (3 minutes).
| Move | Target area | Seconds |
|---|---|---|
| Chin tuck | Under the chin, neck posture | 45 |
| Ceiling kiss | Chin, front of neck | 45 |
| Tongue press | Under the chin | 45 |
| Jaw jut | Jawline, under the chin | 45 |
| Neck side stretch | Sides of the neck | 45 |
| Vowel shapes | Mouth, cheeks | 45 |
What to realistically expect
A double chin is influenced by body fat, genetics, skin elasticity and posture. Exercise for the face cannot target fat in one spot, and studies on face yoga are small. Many people simply find the routine relaxing and a good reminder to sit up straight — enjoy it for that, and don't judge yourself by the mirror every day.

Important
This guide is general information, not medical advice. Research on face yoga is still limited, and results vary from person to person.
Keep every move gentle and pain-free. Stop right away if you feel jaw pain, clicking or popping in the jaw joint (TMJ), headaches or facial pain, and consult a doctor, dentist or other professional. If you have a TMJ disorder or recent facial procedures or surgery, check with a professional before starting.
