How to make a class timetable on your phone, step by step
A class timetable comes together in three moves: decide which days it covers, enter each class with its exact start and end time, and give every subject its own color. Once it's on your phone, you can answer "what's next?" without hunting through a grid. The same steps work for high school, college and university, and kids' after-school classes.
What to gather first
Collect each subject's name, days, start and end times and room from your school portal, course registration or class letter. College students can work from their final registration list; parents can gather each child's school and activity schedules separately.
Five steps to a working timetable
Get it right once and you'll barely touch it for the rest of the term.
- 1. Choose the days: Mon–Fri, add Saturday if you have weekend classes, or all 7 days
- 2. Set the week to start on Monday or Sunday
- 3. Add classes one at a time: subject, start and end (for example 8:35–9:20) and room
- 4. If a class meets on several days, pick all of them and add it once
- 5. Give each subject a color so you can tell them apart at a glance
Use exact times, not rounded ones
Many schools start periods at times like 8:35 or 9:25, and some activities start at :35 or :45. Squeezing those into 30-minute steps makes your timetable drift from reality and throws off any "next class in X minutes" countdown. Enter start and end times exactly as your schedule lists them.
Keep separate timetables per semester or child
Putting everything in one timetable gets messy fast. Make one per semester, or one per child, and switch between them. At the start of a new term, duplicate the old timetable and edit only what changed instead of retyping everything.
In Classtile
In Classtile's Week tab, tap an empty slot to add a class. Pick one or more days, set start and end in 5-minute steps and choose one of 12 colors; every class of the same subject then uses that color. Overlapping classes sit side by side in the same slot. In Settings you can show Mon–Fri, add Saturday or show all 7 days, start the week on Monday or Sunday and switch between a 12- and 24-hour clock. You can keep several timetables, duplicate one, and share your weekly timetable as an image.
FAQ
- Can I set times like 7:30 or 7:35 instead of 30-minute steps?
- Yes. Classtile sets start and end times in 5-minute steps, so 7:35 or 13:45 goes in exactly.
- Can I copy my timetable for next semester?
- Yes. Duplicate it in Settings and edit only the classes that changed.
- Can I keep timetables for more than one child?
- Yes. Create a timetable per child and switch between them.
- Can I save an image of my schedule?
- Yes. From the Week tab menu, save or share your weekly timetable as an image.
