How to join videos on Android with no watermark

You want to stitch two takes together, or send a few holiday clips as one video. The first wall you hit is "free, but with a watermark". Then the merged file looks worse than the originals, portrait and landscape clips come out with black bars, or the export freezes halfway. This guide walks through what to check, in order, when merging videos on a phone.

1. Pick an app that has no watermark

Plenty of apps say "free" and still stamp a logo in the corner of every save. If watermark removal is a paid option, the whole app is built to push you to pay, so it is faster to choose one that never adds a watermark. Look for reviews repeating phrases like "no watermark". 2. Order the clips and trim the ends

When you select several videos they are usually placed in the order you picked them. To reorder, long-press a clip and drag it. Trim the ends of each clip before joining: cutting the one second of shake when you pressed and released the record button makes the cuts feel far more natural. If you delete the wrong clip, undo brings it back, so tidy aggressively.

3. Choose a ratio when portrait and landscape are mixed

Join a portrait clip and a landscape clip as-is and the result fits one of them while the other gets black bars. Decide where the video is going first. Shorts, Reels and Stories are 9:16. Regular YouTube is 16:9. Instagram feed is 1:1 or 4:5. Once you pick a ratio, each clip is framed to it, so you judge by what gets cropped rather than by black bars. If a landscape clip shows up sideways, fix it with rotate.

4. Avoid quality loss and failed exports

If the clips share resolution and codec and you only reorder and trim them, the join can be saved without re-encoding: original quality, done in seconds. Changing the ratio or adding captions requires re-encoding, so make sure the app exports at 1080p.
