D-day is calculated from your phone's date, and the expiry day itself shows as due today. Past-date items are marked separately so nothing is ambiguous.

Why pick a fridge inventory app without sign-up

Short answer: a fridge list is something you check alone, every day, for a few seconds, so it doesn't need an account or a server. Apps that require login lock you out of your own list whenever the server is down or verification fails. Keeping the data on your phone and moving it with a backup file (local-first) is simpler and more reliable.

When login-based apps get in the way
