Frequently asked questions
How accurate are the readings?
Readings are reference values that depend on your device's accelerometer. Tremo can't replace professional instruments, but it's genuinely useful for relative comparison — is it worse than yesterday, which spot shakes more. Zero calibration before measuring is recommended.
What is MMI?
The Modified Mercalli Intensity scale grades shaking by how people experience it, from 1 to 12. Tremo shows a one-line description of what each level feels like.
Can I use it as an earthquake warning system?
No. Tremo measures only while the app is open and provides no background monitoring or early warning. Always rely on official emergency alerts for disaster preparedness.
Can records be used as evidence in noise disputes?
We can't guarantee legal validity, but labeled, time-stamped measurement records can serve as supporting reference material to describe the situation.
Is it really free?
Yes. Measuring, history, alarms and calibration are all free. Ads are shown, but placed so they never interfere with measuring.
What permissions does it need?
None are required. The accelerometer needs no Android permission, and notifications are optional — only if you want reminders.
