Sound familiar?

No signal or no data, and the athan simply doesn't play

The app's times are a few minutes off from your local masjid

The athan plays through a phone call or takes over your whole screen

You're never quite sure the Qibla direction is right

Salahday calculates times on your phone and carries the athan inside the app 🌙

Frequently asked questions

Why doesn't the athan play without internet?

Many apps fetch times or stream the athan online. Salahday calculates prayer times on your phone and the athan audio is bundled in the app, so it plays with no internet or data. For on-time playback, allow Android's "Alarms & reminders"; without it the athan can be a few minutes late, and the app shows a card to allow it.

The times are 5 minutes different from my masjid — how do I fix it?

First check that the calculation method matches the one your masjid uses. If there's still a gap, adjust each prayer by up to ±30 minutes. If only Asr is off, switch between Standard and Hanafi Asr.

Which calculation method should I choose?

Salahday picks your country's usual method automatically, which is fine for most people. If you know the method your local masjid or Islamic authority uses, choose that one from the 11 available.

Can I use Hanafi Asr time?

Yes. Choose Standard (Shafi'i/Maliki/Hanbali) or Hanafi for Asr. Hanafi uses a longer shadow length, so Asr comes later.

Does the athan stop when I get a call?

Yes. If a call comes in while the athan is playing, it stops automatically. The athan appears as a normal notification with "Stop athan" and "I prayed" — it doesn't take over the screen or keep it on.

Will the athan play when my phone is on silent?

By default it respects silent mode. If you want the athan even when the phone is on silent, turn that option on in settings (it's off by default).

Do I need to download the Quran?

No. All 114 surahs in Tanzil Uthmani text are bundled with the app. There's no audio or translation; you get font size, continue reading, bookmarks and a daily wird goal.

Do I need an account? Is it free?

No account or sign-up — your data stays on your phone. Salahday is free and ad-supported.

No signal? The athan still plays on time

No sign-up. Set your location and see today's times 🌙
