How to build a daily trivia quiz habit
The key to a trivia habit is small, at the same time, every day. Pick an amount that takes no effort, like one question a day, get a notification at the same time each day and answer it right away. It keeps going without willpower, and it lasts longer than answering twenty questions once a week.
Four things that make it stick
- Keep it small: one question, about ten seconds.
- Fix the time: right after something you already do, like morning coffee.
- Start from a notification, not from memory.
- Make progress visible: a streak you don't want to break.
The fact behind the answer matters more
Reading the fact and source behind the answer is what you remember, not whether you got it right. A question about gold's chemical symbol is followed by why: Au comes from the Latin word "aurum" (Royal Society of Chemistry).
Examples of a daily question
| Question | Fact behind it | Source |
|---|---|---|
| About what share of the solar system's mass is in the Sun? | About 99.8% | NASA |
| Who was the first human in space? | Yuri Gagarin, April 12, 1961, orbiting Earth once | NASA |
