How to track dividends without linking your brokerage account
The most accurate way to track dividends is to record the amount that actually hit your account, on the day it arrived. Linked apps keep failing with "can't sync up my brokerage account" or "can't find the ETF"; a manual dividend log has nothing to sync, so nothing breaks.
Why a manual log beats sync
Auto-imported dividends often miss splits, exchange rates and withholding tax, so the "listed dividends are no longer accurate." Logging what you received keeps your yearly total in line with your statements, even across several brokerages.
A 3-step routine
- Check the payout alert from your broker.
- Log the date, ticker, amount, currency, before/after tax and account. No share counts needed.
- Review last month's total at the start of each month and export a CSV backup every quarter.
How Divhive helps
Divhive logs a payout in three taps with no account linking or sign-up. Paste a broker alert and it reads the ticker and amount on your phone; each payout fills one cell of this year's hive. Data stays on your device and exports to CSV.
