How to remember when you last did something (haircut, sheets, filter)
Things you do every few weeks or months almost always feel more recent than they really were. "It hasn't been that long…" and then you check, and over a hundred days have passed. The reliable fix is to log the date each time and look at how many days ago it was.
Why it always feels more recent
Daily tasks become routine, but monthly ones get buried under everything that happens in between. The last time blurs, and most people guess too short.
Three ways to log it
- A calendar note: free, but you count the days yourself.
- A notes list: one line per item with a date, easy to forget to update.
- A last done tracker: tap once when you do it and it counts days ago for you.
Things worth tracking
Haircut, fresh bed sheets, toothbrush, water and HVAC filters, car wash, the dog's flea and tick meds, calling your parents, watering plants. The longer or less regular the gap, the more it helps.
